Jonathan Tedd Associates

JTA are fire safety consultants providing advice to compliance and safety officers, property professionals, facilities managers and business owners throughout the UK.

We specialise in carrying out fire risk assessments and fire safety audits in the workplace and the managed residential sector. With the introduction of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) in 2006, we have guided hundreds of firms across many sectors in significantly reducing their fire risk.

Our online fire risk assessment tool is specifically aimed for the SME business sector and for low rise purpose built blocks of flats.

Our online fire risk assessment template is used by fire risk assessors using a process approved by the British Standards Institute.

If you are a business owner, or manage safety for your organisation - we can help you.

If you manage residential property such as flats, HMOs, hostels or hospitality - we can help you.

We provide you with the means to ensure that your obligations under the Fire Safety Order 2005 have been met.

The law and your responsibilities

The Fire Safety Order 2005 now makes it law for all buildings to have a fire risk assessment (FRA). It has been law since October 2006. The Order applies to multi-occupied residential buildings and the common areas of flats. It does not apply to the flats themselves, although there are standards that should be achieved – see our residential section.

For residential housing there is the Housing Act 2004 which applies to rented accommodation. Under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRA) there are 29 hazards listed – one of which is fire. Our residential section deals with this in detail.
